"Behavior is a means of Communication"
I believe that most behavior serves as a form of communication, when words are not available. I strive to look beyond the behavior to find the underlying message that is trying to be communicated. Given this, you will rarely see me recommend behavior modification as an intervention.
"We are hurt in relationship, and we heal in relationship"
I'm a big believer that relational trauma is best healed when we feel safe, heard and loved. I often include family members in our sessions, to help the healing process and develop resiliency factors.
"When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower".
I accept and affirm neuro-divergent populations. I also acknowledge that being a parent to a neuro-divergent child can be challenging. I help families to adapt their world to meet the needs of their child, with the neurology that they have.
